ANTON DELECCA QUINTET
I put this band together after returning from New York in early 2020, and since then we’ve shared the stage on countless gigs, growing and developing as an ensemble along the way.
The group brings together some of my closest collaborators — Danny Fischer (drums), Darrin Archer (piano), and Tom Lee (bass) — joined by the brilliant young alto saxophonist Bernard Alexander. Together we’ve built a sound that feels both familiar and fresh, with room for risk, energy, and connection.
ANTON DELECCA QUARTET FT. EMMA GILMARTIN
In 2024 I formed this ensemble with the singular purpose of collaborating with the sublime vocalist Emma Gilmartin. We perform exclusively at Melbourne’s beautiful Paris Cat, presenting three to four concerts a year — each one a true joy!
ANTON DELECCA QUARTET
This project has been with me since 1999, when the original lineup — Mark Fitzgibbon (piano), Matt Clohesy (bass), and Dave Beck (drums) — released our debut album Flow (2001), performed at Bennetts Lane, the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, and recorded for the ABC.
A few years later I reformed the band with Will Poskitt (piano), Danny Farrugia (drums), and Jonathan Zion (bass). After Will’s passing in 2018, I chose to continue the group, with Marc Hannaford on piano, leading to the release of Lost City(Jazzhead, 2010).
Pianist Luke Howard later joined, bringing his unique voice to the band. With Luke, we recorded The Healer (Jazzhead, 2013), which won Best Jazz Album at the Age Music Victoria Genre Awards and was named in PBS FM’s Top 10 Albums of the Year.
